I have been in the pole fitness/dance community for 5 years and for the past 3.5 years I have taught all over Nottingham as a mobile instructor! I am currently employed by the Ministry of Justice but I am on a career break. Before the career break I would joggle work, teaching pole fitness, adding to my fitness qualifications and personal training.
I don’t have any stories of childhood dance or gymnastic achievements as I never did anything like that, thinking back I was definitely a ‘Tom boy’ enjoying being part of the girls football team and I loved cycling. It wasn’t until I found a real interest in female bodybuilding and I was fascinated how the celebrity Jodie Marsh had transformed her physique from a model to a competing bodybuilder that I took training seriously. So off I went to my local gym on a quest to become the next natural female bodybuilder!
Well as the story goes, I needed a lot of core strength which I repeatedly would complain that I couldn't see any results from the gym (this was mainly because I don’t think I fully understood what muscles I should be engaging to achieve maximum results).
So the gym receptionist suggested pole fitness, she advertised it as a full body & core exercise that is a fun alternative to the gym! Hummm...I thought ‘yea right, not sure it's for me...shorts?!!!’ Anyway I took a deep breath and wondered slowly into the class dreading ever agreeing to go, little did I know that this would totally become my life’s passion.
